Launched from Portage as well 8/9 and headed Northeast to Michigan waters. Set-up in 120' and decided to just follow the SW winds until we found something and then just got to enjoying the day and didn't feel like turning the wheel. 50' degree water was 70-75' down so kept riggers between 85' and 65' to discourage lakers which of course we didn't. "Lakers and Shakers" trip to the point we were doing everything we could to have a laker self release behind the boat. Did lose something interesting (naturally) on the 300' copper which took Lakers as well. Ended up 30 miles from Portage in 175' but the trip back was like glass so made for a pleasant cruise. Did manage to put some silver in the box for everyone's grill. J-Plug on the deepest rigger was popular.
