Any tips on where to start or tactics to use at/near the gong?  I’ve never been but have heard a lot about it.  Also, I’d like to actually put some fish in the boat this spring/summer and I’m willing to settle for some grease if I can give friends and family on the boat a chance to catch nice-sized fish.  I’m assuming a slow troll with chrome spin dr’s...trash cans...spin n glow rigs and some spoons.  Drag bottom with riggers and dipsies?  Thanks for the help.

In my post- EC 5/15 , I went 6 for 9 , all Lakers . Started a North troll at the Gong. Spin Dr with Spin n glow on the riggers right on the bottom then I ran spoons on my 1 and 3 dipsy's. Everything took hits with the riggers catching most of the big ones.
I'll be heading back out there this Saturday, mid morning. Hope they'll still be there, a bonus King would make the day.

Thanks Ltrain.  What range of depth can I expect out there?

Everything u said. Cowbells seem to always work for me. Trick is trolling very slow 1.5 is usually my speed when targeting lakers.

I want to say it's about 38 at the gong then gradually gets to like 54 before i turned to troll back.  You can get a bit deeper if you head east, still staying in Indiana waters. Got to go into Michigan or Illinois if you want to see 70's, i only have Indiana license for now.

That's interesting. I was going 2.5 because i was hoping to get some silver too. So if i slow it down should my laker bite improve?  I'm okay with that this Saturday,  taking my uncles out and just want some action

It's not so much that lakers are lazy, it's that the lures (specifically - dodgers) like to run best at low speeds.  I've found dodgers sort of peter out much past 2.4 mph.  So when I want to target both deep down trout and silver fish at the same time, I switch to plastic flashers - Coyote-Spin Doctors-Revelators-ProTroll - no particular favorite and put either a fly or spin-n-glow behind it. They'll eat 'em at 3 mph and you'll get to the next fish twice as fast.

As always - some days they only want slow, but realistically, just about as often, they'll only want fast. There are a few days (not many) spoons will outfish dodgers/flashers - but I always have a few spoons in the mix.

I'm sure there are still some trout north of the gong but I've been hearing some good trout action a bit east of there, as well. I'd bet you could troll the state lines from west to east and catch them the whole way, right now.

Thanks for the information Brother Nature.  If I head out there I’ll probably try to fish faster and  keep a 100cu/2 color or flatline up for some silver, even though my odds of picking something up are probably pretty low.
