Got a call from another charter who ignored the rule "don't leave fish to find fish" who had spectacular fishing earlier in the week along the State Line. Instead he went basically due North from EC past the line and the wreck and fished the 23 line starting a 11/2 miles into IL.  Luckily, my guys were all Illinois legal, so we made a strategic move. (We had only two fish in the box.) Buy the time I got there, Bob was leaving with his box full of trout.

It was a trout fest!

I know lots of guys don't like them but in only 50 feet of water, on braid or wire, they are fun to catch.  Saturday was a split between spoons and dodger/spin n glows. Went back to same spot Sunday and set out a wire diver - it got bit, put it out again, it got bit, repeat over and again. Needed two more fish for a limit at 7AM and finally got both wire divers out at the same time. "Catch one on each of them and we are done," I told them.  Bam - Bam. done.  Moved south, set everything up high and picked up a few cohos to round out the day.

Lot's of bait up on the shoals out there, the silver fish will soon be joining the party, I'm sure.

That’s great!  I am considering taking my wife out for her first  salmon / trout trip this weekend.  I would love to get a king on or a nice trout.  Typically go out of portage or MC with my little 17’ boat.   Hope the weather cooperates and the fish!   Will be monitoring reports all week.  Thanks!!
