Not a stellar day, for sure. Once the sun came up I found I couldn't even find the mudline. Plenty - o -rain has pushed the river current far out into the lake. Caught a small gaspergoo close to the mouth. Customer is a Lake Erie guy and was impressed with the size (about 5 pounds). I told him it was one of the smallest I've ever seen in Lake Michigan.

Moved to the #4 marker (NW corner of the Port of Indiana). Was setting a 6 color with a silver J-Plug and it got bit. This one was a 10 pound 'goo. Customer was really impressed! Took pictures before releasing.

Second pass past the #4 and a fish hit a glow/pink dot Captains Plug. Hen coho. Odd thing was she felt cold. I didn't have my probe out so I don't know what the temp under the boat - surface is in the low 70s. No more action until we were clearing lines when a metalic green spoon got bit and we boated a nice LAKE TrouT. Those guys don't tolerate much warm water so I'm thinking the cold is moving in.

Sadly, that should have bunches of kings moving in with the cold water but I only heard of one king (Kelly Ann) caught all morning and many skunks.

Would like to get out tomorrow again, but my customers are coming about 3 hours and the storms are going to be around. We're hoping Wednesday looks better.

Hope some of you locals get out and post your results. Could be the beginning or even the best day of the fall run. Who knows, these days.

Got out this morning and decided to give it a try in front of the ditch and by the #4. Marked a few fish here and there. We ended up hooking a king in 30 fow on a flat line. It was 10lb. Nothing else, so we pulled lines at 10.

Thanks for the reports boys! I was wondering what I was missing at work. As far as the cold water goes, well at least Saturday before the storms hit, we probed out by the #4 and we were getting 50 degrees down 45 fow. Dang Kings should be there!

Thanks for the report. I was headed back South today, but wishing I was fishing.

Kings should be at the pier heads this weekend following the cool air and the north wind we will be getting the end of the week...I will be trolling the St Joe piers this weekend and given it a solid effort unless I hear different.
