Got a little later start this morning - left Pastrick about 6:30. Went a ways NE of the gong in from 70 to 105 FOW. Had one hit on 10 color that was a quick hit and gone. Then we got my first Steelhead in the Boat. We thought it was a big Coho since it never jumped out of the water but was a decent fight (caught him just before 9 AM). Hit on a wonderbread behind a protroll on a dipsy. About an hour later had another hard hit on the same rigging - unfortunately as I set the hook and started reeling in - it snapped the line before the Dipsy. That was the last hit we had - a little painful to see all that rigging gone but at least I got a nice steelie out of it.

Nice Fish.

Lost gear is just part of the game, probably could outfit a nice size bait store with the salmon gear I have lost over the years. Unfortunate these days as the costs are about 700x more from when I started this game.

Well good part was I had a 10% off at cabelas to replace some and with local tackle store going out of business I was able to stock up on stuff at 40% off (sad to be losing the local store just as I am starting to get into the Salmon fishing though). Makes it a little easier on me this time around and at least this time I have a fish in the cooler.

Don't set the hook! How strong of line are u using on your diver rods? I use 30# mono, braid or wire and I have divers older than my kids. I switched to 30 after coming to realization the goal is not to see how many dipsey's you can litter across the bottom of Lake Michigan.

How about the days we snagged a perch net and lost it all!!!

If you were lucky you caught the perch net with a cannon ball and when raising the ball you pulled the net up gaining a few lures.
