Really should have gotten a night casting trip in last night before the wind switched around. Got the itch for some light tackle salmon and steely action so I decided to check the creeks out today. Water is up a little after the rain, but not terribly high. I mostly just drove around looking this afternoon. Saw a few fish, hard to tell whats one fish twice or two fish, jumping at the lamprey weir in MC, 1 was for sure a small king another steelhead and a couple not sures. Saw at most 5 fish in a half hour of stting there. Stopped by the dam in Portage for a while on the way home. Sat there about a half hr and saw 1 fish, my guess is coho, but maybe steely go over the dam and that was it. Lot of water snakes at the dam. I took a few casts with a spinner here and there, but no action.

I'm thinking about checking the creeks out in the morning. I'll probably start hitting them hard next week. Guess I'd better start tying up some sacks. Lol

It was looking like this weekend could have been a good start to a possible start to the run until looking at the forecast for Friday-Sunday. Very well could mess everything up for whatever run may have been coming.

Weekend looks great to me. I meant to put this post in the tribs section, and just realized my mistake. North winds and rain are great for getting the fish to move up the creeks. Should be interesting to see what we get down here in terms of kings. Most of the fish I've seen this spring and summer have been unclipped.
