Went 7/12 out of Michigan city, all coho. Had 5-6 quick drive bys as well. Caught fish on dodger/baby spin doctor flies, spoons and one on a thin fish. Fish also came on flatlines, dipsys and 9 color. Found the coho in 40-50 feet to start the day and then found them in 30 feet.
Dodger flies were hot the first couple hours at sunrise, and then shut off and the next hour turned into a spoon bite. About 9 o’clock when the clouds started to roll in fishing just died and we washed lures the next 1 1/2 before calling it a day before the rain.
First couple hours we mainly focused on trying to find that elusive 2022 Indiana king in 40-60 feet with no luck and just picked away cohos looking for them. We knew the cohos were here but hard not to try for those angry spring kings this time of the year. Still hoping for some numbers of kings to show up inshore but not holding my breath this late into the season. But overall great day on the lake!
