Overall Goal: In targeted rehabilitation areas, reestablish genetically diverse
populations of lake trout composed predominately of wild fish able to sustain fisheries.

What do you suppose they mean by this statement? Is it a misprint? Shouldn't it say sports fishing? Or, is it correct and does not have anything to do with the sports fishery?

Certainly it does not mean that we would see gill net once again, does it?

I'm not opposed to bringing the lakes back closer to their "native state". But, it'd be a hell of a lot more palatable if they chose perch, whitefish, sturgeon, or even chubs as the marquee species.

Perhaps we could contact the working group and ask for an explanation? Or perhaps even a webinar for a detailed explanation and conversation......although I would doubt that would happen.
