Hello,

Does anyone have any reports of the kings moving in around the Harbor, creeks and rivers?

I saw a gentleman that caught a couple by the coast guard in Trail Creek yesterday but not seeing anyone really talking about fishing at all.

Any updates are greatly appreciated!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's over for the trollers on a fall king return: most of the fish left around are zombies by now.  Time to call it a season!

I don’t have any stats to back it up, but I would guess that more than 75%of kings caught in Indiana during the fall run are caught by casting. It’s generally slow fishing in tight spaces, not too many guys are going to post in that stuff and even if they did it would be shoulda been here yesterday information. If you need some eggs or just really want to catch salmon, you still have time but it’s going to be in the creeks at this point.

If you’re still looking to do some trolling, lakers are your best bet. Portage, Cal Park, and the ship canal are places to look

We were out Tuesday night at sundown in front of the ditch. Made passes from the corner of the port, up in front of the ditch, and about 2 miles towards gary. We did get one decent Coho, then when clearing lines had the smallest shaker I've ever caught. Unsure if it was a small king or coho, but we had thought we were marking scattered bait until we found this guy on a spoon. Assuming these were this years stocked fish, and if thats the case they are thick off the beaches right now.

Edit: one last note, off the NW corner of the Port, we did mark a large number of big fish hanging at the bottom, 45-50FOW, and they were in the bottom 5'  Once the sun set they vanished off the graph.  No clue what they were, but they were there.  Guessing lake trout or big drum.

It would be interesting to have a camera sent down to look at the sleeper fish. Who knows, they could be walleye.
