I'm wondering the same thing! I will say I fished last Friday out of new buffalo.  Setup in 70 and trolled out to 95 and marked a bunch of fish in the bottom 30 ft. Ended up getting 2 kings in 75fow, one came 5 ft off the bottom and one about 40ft down. Those were the only 2 hits all day. I went through alot of baits trying to get them to bite but spoons took both fish. Hope thos helps some. Please report back!

Water is still COLD its more like early May fishing, think of it like that. Cover as much of a variety of water you can.

Most years the water is about 55 degrees on Memorial Day weekend, which signals that transition where the fish are in between 'shallow' and 'deep' water.  A little tough for us on this side of the lake because of the sheer amount of real estate between 50-70 fow.  I believe MC is sitting around 53 degrees which tells me we should still be fishing in the 40-55 fow range, however that bite has been very stingy, at least at Portage.  It will all be up for grabs come tomorrow unless some reports flow in from today.  Our boat will be shading on the deeper side of 60 fow tomorrow because I couldn't buy a bite east of the donut the other weekend despite all the fish and bait I was marking.  We fished 50 fow all the way in to 12 fow.  I'm not a charter boat so this is all amateur opinion.

Figured i would leave a report on how today went. 12 for 14
3 kings, 1 laker 8 coho. Lost one steelhead and 1 king at the back of the boat.
Set up in 65 early trolled out. worked between 75 and 85 until that bite shut off then trolled to 130 start picking and fish between 110 and 125. Fish are really scattered.  Most fish came in the top 40ft. Hope this helps anyone going out.

Nice job all! Thanks for reporting!  We fished that 75-85 fow early also. When it died we ran in and fished out front of MC harbor in 55-60 fow. Ended 7 for 12 or 13. Lost more than we should have. 2 kings rest coho. Ours were all in top 40’ also. Kings seemed to want green mag spoons for us.
