New here and I will be going out of MI City this afternoon hoping to find some kings. I have never fished for kings and I am wondering how deep they are currently, and how far out to those depths.

I will be trolling with two lines set up with a dipsy diver and flasher and probably a spoon and fly on the end.

Last few weekends fish have been in 100' - 120' down 70' to the bottom. Probably see them on your sonar in those depths northeast of MC.

Thanks. Looks like the largest dipsy diver has a max depth of 100'. Any tips on how to get deeper?

Can you explain this? I understand what 100'-120' down means. But in that depth of water, 70' to the bottom doesn't make sense.

 

One more, Should I troll with or against the current?

I would probably put it on a the number 1 setting and target 85’. Speed no more than 2.3 or it will come up in the water column. If you don’t have a probe watch your graph for fish and target that depth. Not sure what size boat you have but it’s about 10 miles out so I would at a minimum check the MC buoy before you go which is 3 miles out. The wave height will be higher out there.

Not sure what you mean by a probe but there's a fish finder on the boat. Its a 22' center console

Depth of water 100’-120’, baits running between 70’ to the bottom of you want lake trout.

Set up with the waves then turn into them. Go back and forth with then against the waves. Might be a little bumpy out there to do anything else

Same for kings?
