Fished 70-150fow w/nw from the harbor. Graph was absolutely stacked at 70-80fow. My boy got one 6-7# king. Then nothing till 130fow. One more dink king, then 14 lake trout, some maybe nearing 10#. So 16 fish boated, and probably lost 7 or 8 more. A couple at the boat which were our own fault. Captain beat me up pretty good for a string of bad luck. Big waves and hard to balance didnt help anything. His fishing style of tight drag, rod down, and keep cranking no matter what differs from ours of fighting the fish and enjoying it. I know his job is to put fish in the boat. I just wanted to have a good time. I said no worry, count those towards my limit. It's all good.

I agree with you about the new Style . dragging in the fish. No fun at all. That will never happen on my boat . Fishing like that for Numbers in a tournament is one thing, Dragging in a planer board is not my idea of fishing . same with dragging in a lake trout coming in with its mouth open . And then paying good money for this is ridiculous. Glad someone finally said something!!!

Glad you got out and caught something. I'm with you - I want to feel the fight. Light line on riggers and long flatlines for me. I spent a bunch of money buying weighted line setups only to realize that they aren't much fun to fish .
Keep it up - you and your son are true seekers - I've enjoyed your reports and admired your efforts.

Thanks, it has been an action packed year for us no doubt. Hope to keep it going now that we are better equipped and prepared for the big lakes. Hoping to get over to Erie next spring a time or two to add to the excitement.

Again, we greatly appreciate having a good group to learn and share info with here. We wouldn't have succeeded without the help afforded us here. Thanks guys!!!

Deadeer, you mentioned Erie,
Fall is a great time to be out there. We have fished in many different areas on Lake Erie. but, it would he hard to find a better spot then Huron Ohio in the fall.
They have great ramps and parking. Parking can fill up at times. A little further east is Craneberry Creek. We would put in thre in the evening and fish shallow towards Vermillion. Right after dark the big eyes move shallow.Short lipped thundersticks in blues at night or purples are really good. 60 ft. back for boards would work well for us. slow troll 1.9-2.3.  10-12 ft. of water. We have fished out there all the way into January. Big Big females. Average walleye at that time of year is 6-8lbs. 10-12 are kinda common. My wife caight one almost 33 inches in length. We lost one that night that might have been bigger right at the boat. Huron is hot in the fall.

Sounds like a fun time and nice fish! I definitely agree on fighting the fish though!
