Where do you launch your boat in Michigan City to fish Lake Michigan?

Usually Washington park. It can be dicey there sometimes. It was better last year thanks to the more normal water levels in the lake. Then there's always the time you pull in and they have it all closed off, though that's more normal in the summer. Trail creek marina has excellent launches, it's up the creek a little further right off hwy 35 and requires a longer boat ride.

I would suggest Trail Creek. Even with the longer boat ride up the river, the launches are much nicer. Washington park has been terrible for years, I wouldn't even attempt to put my boat in there.

What are their hours there? Anyone know? I launched there one time and it was mid day.
Boatless!

The problem with trail creek...at least in the summer is it doesn't open early enough. I like to be on the water at dawn in the summer, and waiting and launching at trail creek does not allow me to do that, with the long ride down the creek and subsequent run to deeper water. In the spring, it's not an issue.
Wash park is normally accessible pre dawn hours, and at that time it's free. If you come later in the day, the kids will nail you for about $20 to park and launch.
In the summer when Mich city closes wash park for all the festival's, I use new buffalo. Great launch facility accessible 24 hours, but no cleaning station. We usually just bring em to MC and clean them there.
