Was getting ready for this weekend. Charged the batteries and hooked up the muffs. Started after a few cranks and sounded strong. Water streamed for about 5 minutes and stopped. Picked up an impeller on Thursday and looked at youtube videos. Looks pretty straight forward. Hopefully will be ready by tomorrow AM.....also got 2 spark plugs and fresh gas for the kicker for good measure.

That's an excellent example why you should run the motor on dry land before the shake down trip. Thank's for posting that!

I just did my impeller and it was operating just fine. It is one of those things that need changed every 2 or 3 seasons as a general maintenance item. I change my lower unit oil every engine oil change also. Lake Michigan is no place to have engine problems especially if you run on a single engine.
Hard to believe that it is also about time to renew the fishing permits also. It just seems time as been passing by faster than it should.

Got the new one in. Was glad to see the old one looked so bad confirming the issue and new one worked great. Too bad rain all day Sunday put a damper on a run to the lake.

A tip from youtube is coat the housing and impeller edges with dish soap to add lube so when you first fire it up while it gets primed it is not running dry.
