I went hog wild at the lure painting shop a few months ago and my project lures came home today. They look great and should be coho catchers this spring. I'll bet they will catch some steelhead later on in the year. 'Ho-'Bo Snatchers, I'll name them if they work. Here is some pics,. If they don't work I'll paint them something else.

My gosh Jay is a good painter. The lures came back looking like the paint is wet. This is a good way to reuse lures you might want to throw away. Sometimes it will cost more than a new lure to get it painted, but you do have the luxury to have a lure painted the way you want it to look like. I did mess up on this batch though. I forgot to tell Jay to use some 3D holographic eyes on the Rapala Magnums. They look really good on a lure. I have used them before.

That nice wet look comes from a very good clear coat. Hard as nails, and the baits will never get hook rash or lose those great paint jobs. Clear coats have been left out on some of the different bait companys to hold cost down and eliminate another part of production. When you have no clear coat on a bait they will chip, scratch, get heavy hook rash and will also get chewed up from teeth marks. So after a short period of time that cheaper bait is now put aside and another is bought for replacment, because the paint job is gone. HBO baits stay looking just like new, fish after fish, year after year.

I forgot to mention that Hunter boys Custom Paints made it to the Great Lakes Angler Magazine. Check out the AUG/SEP issue. 2015. Very well written piece. :)
