Anyone have any good apps they use for fishing information? Buddy of mine got me hooked on one that has the NOAA wave maps for all the great lakes. It's called Surfing Lakes and it's available for free in the Apple App Store. I've also used the Navionics Boating app with good success and find the lake maps to be pretty accurate. Came in real handy when ice fishing Lake Erie this winter.

I used the navionics app this year when ice fishing (for pretty much the first time). Got us where we thought we wanted to be but the fish did not agree

I dont really use anything else other than what is here on The South End.

Not an App, but If you text any of the NDBC Great Lakes bouy Call signs listed here - www.ndbc.noaa.gov/mobile/region.php?reg=great_lakes to 734 418-7299 it will text you back instantly with the info off the bouy.

Example:
dial 743 418-7299
and text:
bhri3

it will text back:
bhri3 Apr3, 2015 9:00pm CDT
Wind:15.9kts from N(10)
Gust: 20.0kts
Air temp: 35.6F

Don't remember who set this up but its pretty handy in a pinch

I use Marine Weather by Accuweather...live current conditions at your favorite port, can view nearshore and offshore wave/wind forecasts, I use that one quite a bit.
Another I use is FishWeather for wind forecasts.

Look here to see were the big ships and tugs are at.

We don't want anybody getting run over.

BTW, there is an app that shows this for $10.

Kind of cute, click on a ship and get a real picture.
