So I'm cutting up the lake trout the other day and some of the usual gray/green poo oozed out on the cutting board. When that happens I hose it all down before the next fish. They are slimy enough without slicking them up with fresh laker doo-doo from the preceding fish. Then I noticed a big glob of gray/green poo. "A laker turd!" I thought to myself. I've never seen their effluent any more solid than Gray Poupon mustard - and nearly the same color. So I gave it a squirt. It didn't dissolve, rather it turned brown. Wat-en-ell?

So I bravely reached over to touch it. (I was wearing rubber gloves.) It was a rock, mostly round, decidedly brown and about 1 1/4-inch in diameter. The dang fish had eaten a rock!

Never saw that before. Probably never will again - until today!

This one had at least three, one of them about 1/2" and a couple of quarter inchers in it's gut.

So, Lakerpalooza guys. Need a few extra ounces to put you in the winner's circle? Shove a handful of gravel down your fish. Word is, the "rock" bite is on!

Maybe those lakers have developed gizzards after eating all of those glow in the dark gobies. :P
