I went to Gander Mountain today. They are going out of business and have several fish finders on sale. Been thinking about upgrading but not sure what to get. I'm hoping their prices keep going down. The Humminbird helix 7 is what I was looking at but they even had several models of that. I definitely want gps. Any suggestions or certain ones you recommend? Wanting to stay in the 4-5 hundred dollar range.

You can get a Garmin Echomap 73 sv that has mapping capabilities, a gps, better base map that is upgradeable and has both down view and side view modes and is nmea 2000 capable for that money. Last years model without chirp sonar. Excellent for that kind of money. Also easy to use. Humminbirds are nice but the Garmin units are better bang for the buck. I just went through this stuff getting a unit for my new boat. It also has more lake maps preloaded.
My Searunner 190, "Four "D's" and a "C". Retirement money well spent.

A lowrance hook series would be nice as well.

The Helix 7 with just GPS shouldnt be a bad price.
I have the Helix 9 and its been great.
Check around on the pricing, Ganders been running high.
