I put my travel trailer up for sale this spring because the intention was to get a bigger boat. We like to camp, and we like to be on the water, but I can't drag a camper and a boat at the same time. I've had a few drive-bys on the camper, but have not yet sold it yet. So, in talking to my wife over the weekend, we've decided to look for a seasonal site for next year so we can park it then trailer the boat over when we visit. We're from NE Indiana (Fort Wayne), and ideally I'd like to be in the South Haven area because we like it there. It's a good jumping off point to go to other towns in the area that we enjoy from New Buffalo to Holland and farther north.

My question to you folks is do any of you have experience with or can recommend any of the campgrounds in the region that offer seasonal spots? I've looked at several online, and right now, the best options I can find that take budget and proximity to the lake into consideration are Cousins RV Park and Jensen's RV Park and Motel, both of which are in South Haven. I've not been to either and neither has all the amenities we'd like to see. To get those, I think it will be significantly higher in price. Anyway, are there any campgrounds I'm missing that I should consider.

Now, to convince the wife we should still get the bigger boat despite not selling the camper. You know, since we'll be close to the lake more often.

Nice campgrounds on the St Joe, or I would head up to Luddington/ Silver Lake Area. Good luck!

I’d love nothing more than to take it up to Ludington, but that’s a little more driving than we’d like to do for frequent weekend trips. South Haven is about 2.5 hours for us. I’d like to keep it close to or under that.
