Ec is the closest launch for me. Is it worth launching out of ec this Time of year for kings/coho? Or would u say to do the drive further up?

Not that any of IN ports have been on fire the last few years but EC has basically come in last among them. My guess it will be the same this year. If you want to stay somewhat local, I'd suggest Portage or Michigan City. Your next choices, St. Joe or Waukegan are going to be tough for day trips, just because of the travel distance and neither are reliable hotspots for spawning salmon.

No short answer. How long have you got to fish? Right now I’d say MC is best, it’s been dry so the creek is low. East winds have the water cooled down that way and it’s an absolute mess over here on the west side. EC can still offer some decent fishing. The fish that are stocked in EC and IL’s fish don’t have rivers to return to so that can be an advantage. As things stand today, I’d drive an extra 45 min and go to MC if I wanted to fish salmon from a boat in Indiana water this week. But if I only had an hour or two to kill, I’d probably be fishing st EC because it’s 10 min from my door.

Thanks for the reply. The big thing to me is that I'm about a hour away from ec as it is. So for just a day trip. How long does someone really want to drive.

They keep changing the stocking site over there. It’s been the marina, the hole in the wall, Buffington, the marina again. I’m not sure where this year’s fish were dumped. Any of those locations can give you fish. Trolling the inland wall or ship canal can give you fish. I’d be inclined to find cleanee water and cast at dusk or pre dawn in any of those areas.
