Thought this would be a good spot for this one. The making of new friends. We all love to fish the big lake or we are all nuts, its one or the other. With money we as fishermen spend on this sport we must be nuts, or we just prove how much we really love to catch these fish. For some of us, or should I say most of us, this fishing has been in our back yard for along time. We can sit around and wait for premium days to get out and fish with friends and family. We as locals already have an idea were to start, fishing from information shared by friends.
But, what if you live many hours away? Your not in the local click to here whats been going on, and were the best fishing has been. Hard to wait on the perfect set of weather days needed to make a trip up. So its a crap shoot trying to set up off days and good fishing weather. Just ask fellow fishermen like reelfun or steelydon. They make the most of what they have at there disposal. This site, and friends that they have made, have helped keep them and others in the loop.
Its you guys that I look at to see that spark, the spark that keeps you coming up,spending money on this sport, and in general just having a blast catching these silver bullets. Thanks guys for keeping that spark going, thanks for the friendship, and thanks for the conversations. I hope all your trips are fun, safe, and memorable. Steely Don, thanks much for dinner the other night.

Well said. It is tough being an hour and 45 minutes from the lake. Thanks to sites like this, it helps getting a feel for conditions up there.

Thanks Lickety-Split it is great to find a site and people willing to share info. I live 2.5 to 3 hrs. away and try to make the most of each trip. I have to be nuts or just addicted to the time away from the mad people on land running around! Either way I enjoy the water and spending time with friends and family (bonus no one can just up and leave once offshore). :) We just made a trip to Lake Erie on 7/25. Slow day for us but we ended 6 for 6 with m dad getting a Fish Ohio 30", Fished out Vermilion off sand bar also, we released 60 big white bass (not bad eating if red meat is removed). Visit www.walleye.com for more info if wanting to plan a trip or pm me.

Huron is good right now. I have reports of limits out of Huron. Guys are running out and starting a troll in front of Cranberry Creek towards Vermilion 30 fow running reef runners and husky jerks 2.5 to 3 mph. Usually, the trophy size fish will come in Sept/Oct when the water cools down. Fish deep for hogs and shallow for eaters has worked best for me. The islands have fish still around them will have to hunt harder and deal with more white bass, white perch. and farm animals. Good reports coming from Niagara Reef and West Sister which is closer. Hopefully, will be perch fishing Fri and Sat. with a friend. I will let you know how we do. If weather holds the following weekend I want to be in your neck of the woods trolling or perchin.

Thanks L-S, even those of us who live close find this site very useful. I live close (40 min to ramp) and my learning curve has went down hill. LOL. We caught more silver fish when I had a 16 ft. tiller Lund & less fishing gear. I'm blaming it on the fish numbers. That keeps my hopes up for better days to come. This hobby is like all things you do that you enjoy, it's never cheep. My wife has horses $ in one end and sh** out the other end. But that's what keeps her happy, and we all know a happy wife a happy life. I post results each time I get out, normally not a good report, hopefully keeps someone from making my mistakes. Good luck ALL fellow Fisherpersons (politically correct?). Keep the post coming! Rudey

Thanks gentlemen, but the truth is, it is all of you that use this site and post your results in a friendly way that are making this site what it is today. Many of us like to try to get out to Lake Erie, so any information coming in there helps others who might be on the fence post on making a trip out.

Same as you out of towners looking for information here to make a decision on a trip to lake Michigan.

So, Takin It Easy, Crooked Eye, Reel Fun, Steelie Don, thank you! Thanks for being part of the site. Thanks for your reports.
Thank You to all the fellas that are from out of town and are part of our little community.
