I used to launch at Whihala all the time but it's been probably 20 years now. Had some problems with low water in the lake, silted in and Hammond Marina opening up so I just haven't been back. Used to be free, either no guard or if there was a guard it was free to Hoosiers. I know that's all changed, the lake is full of water, Hammond and EC closed, so what's the procedure now? I've heard stuff about needing to be in a club, other expenses, getting a key - what's the deal over by there? Also, what's up with Cal Park/AKA 95th street. Same thing, once Hammond opened, never went back.

Never launched out of whiting. I just looked on there site because that would be closer for me to launch. Price to launch there seems pretty steep $30 big ones.
The little red rocket! It's all the boat I need ;)

Yeah cal park is the same. $30. There is a machine you pay and put the receipt in your vehicle.

Chicago lakefront is closed until the shelter in place is lifted. According to the news I heard they will be fining people not following the orders. I would figure 95th falls under the order.

So at Whiting/Whihala, is there an "opening" time, or you just pay at the gate and the barricade goes up?

I don't remember a barricade. We pulled into the parking lot and there was a pay box in the parking lot, then you just put the ticket in your window to show you paid. Maybe they added a gate since last year?
