It is the policy of United States Steel Corporation to distinguish itself as the industry leader by building value, being world
competitive and providing cost-effective quality products and services. To achieve this, we must:
Make Safety
the first priority in the performance of tasks;
Continually Improve
processes and products through compliance to the APEX Quality Management System;
Empower
the work force to be responsive and accountable by
providing the necessary training, tools, skills, and motivation; and
Promote Effectiveness and Efficiency
through planned reviews of metrics and quality objectives aligned with the drivers of our business: Safety, Quality, Ethics, Diversity, Environmental Compliance, Customer Service, Productivity, and Profitability.
March 2006
Quality Policy

It appears that who ever is doing their audit work should be let go. I was a trained QS9000 auditor for the national steel midwest plant. The audit would of uncovered the why to these mistakes.
