Any thoughts on if this rain will bring kings in close to Indiana harbors?

I believe daylength is a factor in migration and has a lot to do with when they stage outside of the harbor.    Much like steelhead, rain or a high pressure system with north winds on our end of the lake will usually send them up the river.  On the southern end of the lake they usually start showing in late August and the first week of September.  Weather dictates how long they stay there..

Cold water in close will be a very good indicator.

What kind of wind direction and for how long causes us to have cold water? Thanks

Generally south winds are good on the south end for producing cold water nearshore. To have a true upwelling event where it "flips" the lake, usually 15-20 MPH winds for a couple days, or 20+ for 36 hours or so will get it done. I'm struggling to remember the last true flip we've had in Indiana though.

However, it's possible to have a good thermocline in 30-50 feet. Just need to avoid sustained 10-15mph+ north winds, which ruin it

There were a few cohos in Trail Creek this morning, so there's salmon around.   The rain really fizzled out though, the tribs are very very low still
