As previously reported, fishing around the islands wasn't what it was last year. There are still some walleyes there. Some friends and I fished there last week June 7 to 11.  We limited out (24) one of the days and hit double digits the other days. Happily, plenty of gaspergoos to keep us interested.  Lots of dinks, so good for the future.

Probably the funnest part of the trip was a couple hours we moved close to South Bass and trolled in 10 feet of water.  Three guys couldn't keep six planer board lines in the water catching gaspergoos, smallmouth bass (released) and white bass, which we kept.  It was a circus!

One interesting thing was the number of walleyes we caught on Rattlin' Thinfins with divers, downriggers and using snap weights to get them deep.

Who says Red RTs are just for cohos?

We did a charter out of Meinkes Marina on May 7. Started out 5 footers, but eased to 3 ft by end. We ended up with 30 eyes in the box for 6 guys. Lots of fish to be had, and good times.

The big blow just before Memorial Day really put the hurts to things in the western basin.
