I headed up to the wonderful Magees east campground off of Turtle creek with a buddy on the 14th. It looked like we'd get a bit of a window before the winds started howling again. We arrived midday on that Wednesday and went out to do a little afternoon prospecting and to wet some lines and show my friend how we troll out there. He is a good fisherman but not that accustomed to running boards. I shot out to the can lines, found some decent marks and was able to put a few decent eyes in the boat. I knew we'd get on some the following day. Thursday started out great- I was running two Bandits and a crawler harness on the starboard side and 3 Flicker Minnows on the port. The harness was only producing white bass but the cranks were bringing in steady fish until 10 am then it shut down. I wanted to show my friend how we bottom bounce so we pulled lines and set up our bouncing rods. We caught steady fish but nothing for the livewell. White bass and shorts for my friend and I couldn't keep the big sheep off my line. Biggest four tipped over a combined 60 pounds, lol. Fun fight but not productive fish wise.
On Friday, the last of our fishable days, we ran 3 Bandits portside and 3 Flickers on the starboard side and we were cleaning fish by noon.
Saturday it blew 40mph and we had to hit the road early Sunday. I did run out to the fishing grounds early Sunday but it was solid 3footers with 4's in there so I just turned around and put it on the trailer.
Overall - great trip- my buddy said best walleye trip of his life- so I'm glad he was able to see Eries potential. Can't wait to get back!
